Welcome to the Live Shoot podcast. My name's Jeff Dotel and this podcast we talk about all things related to the Second Amendment, as well as my throw a sports story. You know, I guess I gotta say I'm still in mourning over my cowboys. I didn't have high expectations, but still would've liked to have seen a win. But anyway, so the question of the day is, do we need more gun control? And why? Well, look, I mean, we've had some several mass shootings here just as it got started two in California recently seven dead and one 10 and another. So what's going on? And in fact if you look at since Covid V in 2022, the. Gifford law center to prevent gun control gives every state a rating on their gun control. So here in my state of Texas, we get an F. California gets an A. So if you look at the largest most fatalities in shooting since since Covid, Most of them are coming from states that have some of the most strict gun control laws. So California 10 fatalities. That's the one recent one in Monterey Park. They have an a. Colorado had 10 they have a B. New York has an A minus. They had 10. California had another shooting. Again, a they had. Illinois and a minus. They had seven. California, another one A, they had seven. So you can see the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 1, 2. 3, 4, 5, 6 of the 11 have A or B scores in their ratings. So what's going on? Well, there's an article that I found and I enjoyed it quite a lot, and the title of it is, experts always love experts. Experts explain why California is still rife with gun violence despite some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. So I'm just gonna quote a little bit from this article. It says, California has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country, but that hasn't stopped a wave of mass shootings from plaguing the state. In the first few weeks of 2023, it starts on Monday. There was seven people killed in half Boone May. And then a shooting occurred on, on Saturday, a dance studio in Monterey where. 10 people or 11 people were lost. And according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, the status quo even with increasingly severe gun regulations is not working. California California is known for Strickland laws. In fact, California's led this way for gun strict gun gun regulat. Is number according to the every town for gun safety ranks. California is number one, the country for gun loss strength. So for example, in 89 they passed the Roberti Ro Rus Assault Weapons Control Act that essentially bans assault weapons in 2016. They Passed a proposition require the background check for purchasing ammunition and prohibits the possession of large capacity magazines. The state employs the licensing system for gun and ammunition purchases, and there's a 10 day waiting period that's applied when you're obtaining firearms, but, Nothing's working. It still isn't working. It says, the article says, while the recent wave of mass shooting in California may appear, may appear that the severe gun laws aren't working, people are not seeing all the times. They do prevent violence. So they're saying, yeah, there's still a lot, but a lot of times we didn't. And so they are, but. There is no evidence that says they're just assuming that they're stopping violence. There's no evidence where it says, just because we ban the purchase of this or that somebody has to register this, that that has prevented somebody else from doing something. But here's where, here's where things get says. Unfortunately, firearms in this country are so pervasive that it's going to take a lot to stop it. The past work of legislation is undo undoubted. Reducing deaths, but there are just too many guns in the US to completely prevent gun violence in any state. The expert said gun violence is continuing affect large number of Californians, but at much lower rates than other states. It says California gun laws while wide reaching, don't target everyone. everyone hear what they want. Who they law abiding citizens is who they wanna talk, talk. The background checks are not going to catch everyone. Especially those that don't have a criminal history. Yeah, you're not a criminal, not gonna get caught. In addition, at risk, purchasers could be answering questions on the background. Check, check, un truthfully. Hmm. So criminals. aren't reluctant to break laws even to obtain their firearms, they said so thing, it just makes common sense. People are willing to shoot, will lie on their background checks. Hmm. Interesting. So criminals aren't afraid to break laws, so these laws are only really impacting law abiding citizens. where have we talked about that before? It says, despite, despite the rigid requirements, the average citizens is still able to buy a gun. Hmm. There we get to the rub. They don't come out and directly say that. You say the federal government needs to step up it's gun regulations. But what the underlying, when you read between the lines of this article, they're saying two things. You shouldn't be able to purchase any more. And we've gotta get rid of all the guns that are out there because there's too many. And as long as those exist, we're still gonna have gun violence. And so while this article says that the gun laws aren't working, They're not saying, let's try something different. Let's try maybe arming our citizens. Let's go to the heart of the problem of, of the people. Let's look at the single single mother families and the kids that are coming out of those families and committing these crimes. No, they're just saying basically, we gotta get stricter gun laws. We gotta have even more strict gun laws and there's just too many guns. So we're gonna probably just, we need to get those guns off the street. that is the signal, not the noise. Listen to it. They, no matter what the, even though you can argue left and right, that California look as a, as a, as an example of California's not working. Why do we keep doing these gun laws? But that doesn't sink into them. They just think you still need stronger gun laws. And ultimately we need to get rid of all the guns out. Confiscation, how are they gonna confiscate gun registry? How are they gonna start doing that tracking? So as you see all these things that the a t F has, has been doing lately, just know that that's where it's all trying to go, is to get us a, a list of all gun owners and all location of all guns so they can eventually come knocking our door. I know it sounds crazy. It sounds like conspiracy therapy there, conspiracy theory. Our government would never do that. That is what they want to do. Trust me. Trust me on. Thank you. Just want to keep giving everybody a little information about how we've gotta keep protecting our second Amendment and we gotta keep fight, fight, fight out there for our rights.
