Welcome to the live to shoot Podcast, where we talk about all things Second Amendment and in other other particular related topics, or whatever make cross our minds at the time. So I'm recording this on May 24, Sunday. And I was hoping to be able to talk about in this episode about the Second Amendment case that the Supreme Court chose to pick up or here in their Thursday conference meeting. But as of right now, I have not heard any results from that meeting. I've looked I can't find and what they decided to do, which if any of the 10 cases that are available to them were chosen, we're hopeful. We have four judges that want to hear one. So maybe on Monday, we'll hear a little bit more about that. And I can, we can talk a little bit more about those types. Some things and in next week's episode, so
one thing I want to talk about was, you know, tell a story.
1984 was my senior year in high school, and that summer, I took a trip to the Soviet Union. I was 17 years old. And the only really real reason I was going was one that sounded kind of cool. But two, I was just following my girlfriend. It was kind of a group trip. She was going and I taught my parents and descending me as well.
A for where, you know,

we are still in the middle of the Cold War, you know, fingers are still very close to the red button on the verge of a nuclear war. So, and in 84, in the Soviet Union, it had not been westernized at all there were no Kentucky chickens, no McDonald's, no pizza. It's nothing of that sort that, you know, at least you here today. It was a very communist town. I mean, when there was no color, there was no advertising. Nothing, no nothing that even resembled any type of capitalism going on. But we spent a good weekend in, in the Soviet Union, four days in Moscow and another three days in Leningrad, which is now St. Petersburg. And especially in Leningrad beautiful place. People in the Soviet Union, this citizens that we ran into, especially like in Red Square, they were extremely nice to us. We spent, you know, about four days in London also during that trip, and I was spit at, call them dirty Americans in London, not so easy, but I can say that mush, mushy mind 17 year old whose frontal lobe had not fully developed that time in the Soviet Union
changed me.
Whenever I landed back in the United States, I, I honestly wanted to kiss the ground. Once we landed, I was so happy to be back in the United States, because
it's obvious that this is a different place to
live than the Soviet Union.
And that really formed a lot of my opinions. I was, you know, I realized how great this country is. I was at that point, if needed, ready to sign up and defend this country, if I had to develop the utmost respect for the military. And I tell you all to say this, this this weekend's Memorial Day, and this is a really a time that we all need to step back and really be thankful for those who have given their lives protect this country, and countries around the world. You know, what we do for the world, and how we stand up and protect other countries and create stabilization should not go unnoticed. And I hate when I hear all these snowflakes and that are getting triggered, and that the United States is the worst place in the world and all the world's problems are the United States. And I say that,
then go someplace else. But
because the this is
the greatest country in the world, and you know, we've been celebrating Memorial Day or it was originally called Decoration Day. unofficially, I guess since 1868. When we first started decorating great sites of Civil War soldiers. And then that continued on then after World War One They decided that that, you know, it would, you know, also include all soldiers lost in in, in battle. It was 1968 that name change from Decoration Day to Memorial Day.
And then it was
moved to, you know, the last Monday versus Eve it was done on May 30 every year because I think the original idea was that the flowers would be blooming, so they have good flowers to put on the graves. But regardless of all that, and now you know, now we all look at as our three day weekend and such and the beginning of summer, the time the pools all open, etc. And what I don't want to ever forget is is its true meaning and that we are remembering those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for this country for our lives. And I don't want that to go unnoticed. I would like to hope that everybody, this weekend takes a moment to pause and think about that. And if you haven't ever done it and if you got one by you, we have one in Dallas, a National Cemetery, go to it, go to it. On Monday, it's gonna be crowded, you need to leave early, there's you'll probably have to park a long way and walk. But it's an amazing place. And if you can't go on Monday, go at some other point and just walk and look at the headstones of all the soldiers out there that have died and serve this country. We went to DC a few years ago and went to Arlington and the National Cemetery there we saw the changing of the guard. We saw just amazing things we saw. You know, john glenn has his is buried in Arlington, and that is he is just buried out among the other histones and if you don't know where it is, you will wouldn't go find it. It's just an amazing place to walk through and to see and reflect on, you know exactly what people have done for this country and what they've given for this country.
