Well, welcome to the live to shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Dowdell and I have been a licensed firearm dealer for the last 14 years in this podcast. We talk about all things related to the second amendment, as well as am I talk about sports story or something going on in everyday events. So welcome. Welcome. Welcome. Y'all it is Friday, June 25th. Almost all the way through June and next week will be the 4th of July. And that is just one of my favorite holidays. And I appreciate y'all listening to me. I took last week off. It was the first week in 70 plus weeks that I had not done a podcast or send out one of my newsletter newsletters. And I was, I was just mentally exhausted and. Did not just honestly did not feel like doing it. And so I I'm back at it again and, you know, I try and keep these podcasts under 15 minutes or so. I just want to make it something easy and quick that you can listen to get you some quick information. You know, I liked the podcasts that I listened to fall into two categories in terms of length. I've got my ones that are. Short enough that I can probably listen to an episode as just one walk around my block, the others fit into like, you know, I can listen to it online drive home, or drive into work or you know, a trip to the grocery store or something like that. And so I hopefully this'll my podcast kind of fit into your, your daily walk around the block and just get a quick little bit of information. So. No shortage of things to talk about. I had a whole list and, but leave it to our president to, to come out and open his mouth. And you know, that kind of derails what my originals topics were that was going to talk about. But a couple of days ago, he and attorney general came out and spoke about their plans for reducing the up swing in violent crime. And what they were going to do about it. And really they didn't really talk about violent crime. They really talked about, about guns. They didn't discuss anything like assaults or rapes or anything like robberies or anything like that. It was all around guns and attorney general Garland's spoken, kinda laid out the plan a little bit. And then our, our, our wonderful president stumbled up and he made his comments. And I just want to talk about some of the things he said. So. You know, right out of the gate, he comes, swing in and he says, you know, for folks at home, here's, here's what you need to know. I've been at this a long time, obviously. And there've been things know that that work, that reduce gun violence, not violent crime, but gun violence and violent crime. And think that we don't know about, but things we know about background checks for purchasing a firearm are important. Newsflash, we do backgrounds. Okay. A ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines. We tried that it didn't work. And again, we'll go back. Don't want to go into what is an assault weapon. And no one needs to have a weapon that can fire over 30, 40, 50, or even a hundred years, unless you think the deer are wearing Kevlar. And this is where it really is. What our president in this regime continue to focus on is that they believe the second amendment is about hunting. The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting. They were taking that for granted. The second amendment is about self protection and protecting yourself, your family from enemies, foreign and domestic. And that includes our own guns. We don't care about what the deer think. Okay. We're more concerned about you, president Biden. Then he but then we've come up with a new bad guy. And that is me, your dealer, your FFL dealers. He said in her conversation. First we discussed cracking down. As you heard from attorney general on rogue gun dealer. He says today, enough rogue gun dealers feel that they can get away with selling guns, to people who aren't legally allowed to own them. Gun crime is not related to rogue gun dealers. Majority of all gun dealers out there are wanting to do the right thing. They want to keep the law. And they're, they're the first line of defense actually to keeping weapons out of the bad guy's hands. He said, then that's a stat. Last time we had daddy on this issue of who's purchasing guns was more than 20 years ago, 5% of gun dealers. It turns out in the study. We did showed that 90% of illegal guns were found at the crime scenes. So we're so about 5% of the gun dealers. 5% sold, 90% of the guns found at crime scenes first. That's there's a lot behind that one. Why would 5%? Well, I guarantee you, if you look at academy bass pro Cabela's Bud's Gunshop Palmetto state armory. Those types of dealers are very high volume dealers, and they're going to have a lot of guns that they've sold now and where they got this information was from trace request. So as I, as an FFL dealer, I will get a request from the ATF to do a trace and they will give me a date. That I around a date that I received a farm based on when they, the last person that they trace it to. So they shipped it to me. The model, the, the make and the caliber, and what they want from me is a copy of my 44 73, to see who I transferred that to. I very low volume. I get one or two of those a month. And the thing about those is it isn't, it, isn't a gun that I sold last year. Most of them. I have to keep my paperwork for 20 years and I have boxes in my attic and I, I keep about a year's worth down here. Before I move them up to my attic, I am going back to typically right now, the trace requests I get are around the 20 14, 20 15 timeframe. So. Seven eight years ago is what this trace requests. So from the original time of purchase, it is a six to seven years that they're going back. So these are, this is not something that's immediate. So that gun dealer that sold that gun, yes, he may have been the original seller, but it's taking six or seven years before. That thing makes its way through, through a string of different transfers. Potentially before it shows up at a crime or are at a location that is where it's unidentified about who it belongs to. So it is a very misleading stat. We know that the guns that they're getting, they're getting illegally, they are not purchasing them from dealers. They're purchasing off the street. I'm sorry. You know, when he starts coming after, after us it's gun dealers, that is a A big thing, because again, we are not the problem. The government is a problem. And you know, we need to continue to fight on this, this topic, you know, they're, they're, they're, they're not letting us. They are coming after our guns. He has said he, he will, and he's continuing to do it now. He's coming after the dealers, he's going to, he's already tried, said these coming after the manufacturers, he wants to make them more like are, you know, criminally liable. If somebody uses the gun. And that they can be sued if somebody uses the gun in a crime, not at eight, there's a product liability issue. If they just use it as a crime, you can Sue the manufacturer. Those are the types of things that he wants to do. They are they're coming at every angle to it. Come and get our guns and, and take them away from us. And why, so they can control it. Gun control are not about the guns. It's about the control. So we have to keep an eye on it. We've got the two other issues out there right now in regards to the definition of the frame and receiver and the, the definition of, of pistol braces. I still encourage you to go out there. Comments on those. I'll put links to those in this podcast right now, I believe the frames and receiver we've got over 70,000 comments there and the pistol race is over a hundred thousand comments and you in turn stand, typically these types of things only get maybe a few hundred comments. So we need to overwhelm them. We have to stand up. There's a lot of good things going on out there, Texas and Missouri, just pastor sanctuary second amendment sanctuary laws. And, you know, the D justice department is not happy about it. And they're, they're coming after him. And the attorney general from Missouri and they turned general from Texas Paxton. Scathing letters back to them. That great thing that we are, you are not going to step in here and overstep overreach, your authority. This is a state issue and it's not a federal issue. And that's the way we've got our approach, all of this. So we have to continue to fight, go out there and make comments, contact your rep. But you know, this. This regime that we're under is ridiculous. And we've got to do something about it. We have got to keep fighting. We have to get out there because they are coming for our guns and they are not going to let up until they get them. So take care, have a good week. And I will talk to you next week. Thank you.
