Well, welcome to the live to shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Dowdell and I've been a licensed firearm dealer for the last 14 years. And this podcast, we talk about all things related to the second amendment, as well as anything that might be going on in pop in, in politics or in popular culture for the day. And I'm not throwing a sports story or something happening in my life as well. So welcome. Welcome. Welcome. It is the end of October, October 29th. We have Halloween coming up and It's hard to say that thing has this year gone by quickly, had the last two years gone by quick. Time has really become a a different beast, I think for all of us. So we are approaching the end of the year and this is one of my favorite time as a year. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I absolutely love it. It is just my favorite time of year. I love the cool weather. I love the holidays. I love Christmas time. The birth of Jesus and celebrating all that. Being with my family, having a little time off, you usually love all those things. Before I get into the topic of this week's podcast, I do want to make an update to last week's podcast, where we talked about north American arms and horny, both some of their approaches towards the vaccine, the owner of north American arms. One of the actually coming out with a vaccine mandate will horny as backed off of that. And they have. Clarified, I guess probably their position that the employees do not have to get a vaccine. And that kind of tails into broader topic that I want to talk about today. Not specifically to the second amendment, but more of a historical context. So go back to the fall and winter of 1776, the revolutionary wars is. In its beginnings and it has been a tough time. The colonists fighting the British and particular, the continental army in July 20,000 troops had been German shoulders were on Staten island and they were in the port and. Washington, the continental army were defeated. They had to make an ELA Eve night escape in the Manhattan and New York ended up falling and actually the British held New York all the way until the end of the war. And then following that Washington's army suffered. After defeat at the hands of general, how the British and the German forces we were out playing to constantly, constantly being defeated. And, and we were the underdogs to begin with. And here we are, we're what everybody predicted was coming true to. The British was just squat that we're going to run over us. Morale was very low. Washington's army had gone from 3000 men captured at Fort Washington. The army, the Cottonelle army had gone from nearly 20,000 Continentals down to nearly 5,000 after casualties and desertions, but, and the other thing making matters worse was at the end of December, most of their, a lot of their lists were, were coming due and many men were not planning to, to re-enlist. So, I mean, it looked like. The short-lived revolution was, was added, added, and, and Thomas Paine, the men that the man that had written common sense, he sat down and planned. The what's called the American crisis. And I'm just going to read the very beginning of it because it is relevant to today. And the whole thing, it was several articles that he wrote. This first one was published in on December 19th and it starts off this way. And everybody has heard these words. It says, these are the times that try men's souls, the summer soldier and the sunshine Patriot. In this crisis shrink from the service of their country, but he, that stands by it now deserves the love and thanks of man and women. Like hell is not easily conquered yet. We have this consolation with us that the harder the conflict, the more glorious, the triumph, what we obtained too cheap, we esteem too lightly. It is Dyrness the only, that gives everything, that thing its value heaven knows how to put proper price upon its goods. And it would be strange. Indeed. If so, celestial, an article as freedom should not be highly. And then he goes on and on and talks about some other things. But I think it's key to note that he talks about the heaven, knows how to put the proper VAT price on goods and freedom should not be that freedom is of highest value. And then he talks, you know, again, the summer soldier and the sunshine Patriot, meaning those that can only fight when things are good and things are comfortable and that we don't need those. We, we need. Those that will stand up and fight in all conditions. And I say that because I believe we are in that in a similar time tries men's souls this time and we need, we do not need summer soldiers and sun signage, sunshine, Patriots, we need fighters. And we need to understand that our freedom is at a risk and that God has placed a high value on freedom. And that to me, By that means that it has to be fought for and maintained, and we are letting it slip away. And I'm just bringing this up because again, we've been through this, we've conquered this and if you look, you look back quantity backing off of itself. The facts and mandates, we've got a close race in Virginia. We've got the parents standing up at school boards. These are the people that we need. We don't need any of the funds that shine Patriots and summer soldiers, you know, we see a, the Mitt Romney's and the, you know, all those. Democrats in Republican names, they are not who we need. We need to be fighters and we need to stand up. And that doesn't mean being insurrectionists as we're, they're trying to portray us. We need to stand up for our freedoms as our, our forefathers have. And th that they want what they went through to get us here. We have to go through to maintain it, and I encourage everyone. We are the. We are on the brink of victory that we have to keep fighting and fighting. I don't know about you, but we've got some elections on election day coming up here next week and get out and vote and show that we can fight. And that why, the word that votes is for a mayor or for your city council, whatever it is, it is imperative that we get out and vote and that we make sure that we put Patriots. In those positions and we have to support those that are out there running. And so, you know, we've got things that are coming up and we just got to keep fighting. We've got our, make our leaders. Remember who put them there, who is in charge, Nancy, Pelosi, Schumer, all those people. They are Biden. They are not in charge. They are. W who we put, who unfortunately have been put to execute our demands. And right now they are not executing our demands and we need to let them know it and we need to go out and replace those people. So, yeah. We do not need summer soldiers and sunshine Patriots. We need fighters. We need fighters out there to fight for our freedom. Go about that. Have a great weekend, enjoy it, and just keep spreading the word to everybody that you see, that they have to be a fighter that, that we don't need summer soldiers and sunshine Patriots, Thomas Paine worded it beautifully, and we need to live up to those words.
