Jeff Dowdle Episode 242

Well, welcome to the Live to Shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Dolan and I've been a licensed firearms dealer for the last. 18 years in this podcast. We talk about all things related to the second amendment, anything else going on in the world, sports story, or anything else that I might find interesting. So welcome back Patriots. This is another episode of the live to shoot podcast. In this show, we dig into the news, the fights and folks standing tall for our God given rights to keep and bear arms. If you're new, we're going to cut through all the noise and get to the heart of what's happening in the two way world now, before we dive in. I want to give a quick shout out to all my listeners out there exercising your rights every day. Whether it's carrying concealed, hitting the range, or just teaching your kids about the Constitution. You're the backbone of this fight and if you're enjoying the show, don't forget to subscribe. Leave a review or share it with your friends. We are a grassroots movement and every voice counts. We have got to get our voices as I continue to preach out there about what our second amendment rights and how we have to fight, fight, fight. So, all right, well, today, what we're talking about is a heavy hitter in the second amendment arena the second amendment foundation or SAA for short. These folks have been swinging for the fences, protect our rights for decades. And if you don't know about them, buckle up. because this is a, it's a group worth knowing. So, and y'all know about the NRA and what they do, but this is why I want to talk about the, the SAF because they have they are really taking the fight for our Second Amendment rights. But let's set the stage. It's 1974. The gun control crowd is starting to flex their muscles. The NRA is around, but they're not quite the powerhouse that we know today. Enter Alan Gottlieb. A guy who looked around and said enough's enough and we need a group that's laser focused on defending the second amendment in the courts in the legislature and the culture and that's when the second amendment foundation was born right there in Bellevue, Washington. Now, I haven't always been the biggest fan of the NRA but you know they've done good work. Don't get me wrong, but SAF is this little scrappy underdog that doesn't just talk the talk They walk the walk in the lion's den and win. The NRA, you know, they do a lot of lobbying and and you know working the political angle SAF their mission to protect and preserve our right to keep and bear arms through education litigation and advocacy And let me tell you, they've been, you know, racking up wins over and over. So, let's talk about why SAF matters. You've probably heard of the District of Columbia v. Heller, that landmark 2008 Supreme Court case that said, yeah, the Second Amendment is an individual right, not just a militia thing. Huge win, right? Well, SAF was right there in the mix supporting that fight. Then in 2020, they took it a step further with McDonald v. City of Chicago. That case made sure the Second Amendment applies to states and local governments, not just the feds. Now think about that, without SAF's work, you might still have cities like Chicago telling you your constitutional rights don't apply within city limits. That's the kind of nonsense that they've been shutting down. Right. Don't stop with the big ones. SAF's got their hands in the lawsuits all over the country, challenging magazine bans, carrier restrictions, you name it. Just last year they were part of the fight against ATF's overreach on pistol braces and unfinished frames. They're not afraid to call out the bureaucrats and say, Hey, you don't get to rewrite the Constitution just because you feel like it. Now here's what I love about SAF. They're not just playing defense. They're on offense too. They've got this thing called the polite society podcast. Yep. It's part of the family now. Keep all keeping us all in the loop on two a news. They've got the gun mag and online daily blast of what's happening in the gun rights world. And they've. Are you even training up the next generation of advocates for workshops like the AMM, Constitutional Alternative Mass Media Convention? That's all about getting the word out and making sure our side in the story isn't drowned out by an anti gun noise machine. Oh, and get this, they're not afraid to take on the big dogs. SAF's got gone toe to toe with states like California and New York, where the Second Amendment is treated like a suggestion instead of a right. They're all there filling briefs, winning injunctions, and making sure lawmakers know we're not backing down. But here's a real kicker. SAF doesn't have deep pockets, or some of the anti gun groups. Folks like Bloomberg and Everytown, who we are always fighting. And they've got millions to throw around. SAF runs on gift. and the support of people like you and me. That's why I'm always saying, fight, fight, fight. You can become Breast AF for as little as 15 bucks a year, that's less than a, you know, a box of ammo, and they go straight to defending your rights. I mean, think about it, every time SAF wins a case, That's a win for us, it's a win for the guy carrying Concealed in Texas, the mom protecting her family in Ohio, and that hunter in Montana. This isn't just about lawyers and suits, it's about keeping the Second Amendment alive for the next generation. Well, so what's next? Well, as of, as of today, they're still in the thick of it. They've, they're watching the Supreme Court like hawks, ready to jump on in any case. They're pushing back against red flag laws don't respect due process. They're keeping an eye on states, trying to sneak through more restrictions. It's a never ending battle, folks, but SAF's got the SAM to keep going. And that's why I'm bringing them here because, you know, to, to, to your attention. And so you can start making donations to them. And we're going to start, I'm going to start trying to cover more information provided by the SAF, the status of some of their ongoing cases and things like that. But before I wrap up, I just want to leave you with this, the Second Amendment just isn't words on the paper. It's a backbone of our freedom in groups like SAS or the muscle. So check them out. And they're at FAF. org. Sign up, donate, and spread the word. We're all in this together. So that's it. Thanks for tuning in to the Live2Shoot podcast. And we will be back next week.
