Well, welcome to the Live to Shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Doddle In this podcast, we're here to cut through the noise. We call out all the nonsense, and then we stand for. God-given rights. We also talk about all things related to the Second Amendment, as well as anything else going on in the world, a sports story, or anything else that I might find interesting. So welcome, welcome, welcome. So the first thing I do wanna talk about this week is the masters. It is the, my most favorite sporting event, bar none. That can, beyond that. I watch, I, I plant myself in front of the TV for really five days, starting on Wednesday and start watching it. My wife is a saint. She lets me do it. She understands. I have been trying to get tickets to go. Never been able to go. I applied for the lottery. I think it's rigged. I don't know. I can't get in. Don't know. But and I'm not quite really willing to pay$2,000 for a ticket right now. I keep trying cross my fingers but we will see. So great event and, you know, gotta love a leaderboard. I am a Scotty fan. I'm a Rory fan. I wouldn't mind even seeing if I had to having Bryson win as well. Justin Rose is a, is a, is a nice guy, but right now it's gonna be a great weekend. So that's where you'll find me when I'm not doing this or I'm not doing transfers or whatever. So, but this week we've got big news, big news things to talk about. First, let's talk about the news outta the Department of Justice. A new Second Amendment task force is in the worst cash Patel's been. Booted out as an active A TF director and the Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll's stepping into the hot seat. There's a lot to unpack, so let's get after it. So, all right, let's start with the good news because yeah, there was some light in the storm. Attorney General Pam Bon is getting together a Second Amendment task force under the DOJ. Now, if you're like me, you first thought, great. More, more government meddling with our rights. But hold on, that doesn't seem to be what it is. Word is the task force is all about actually enforcing our second amendments, not chipping away at them. We're talking about pushing back against the gun grabbing nonsense. We've seen from the Biden years red flag laws, shady background check overreach is, and the that zero tolerance that was aiming at honest Gun dealers like me. But this seems to all be stemming from president Trump's executive order about. Defending the Second Amendment, and it looks like there's some action going on. In fact, the National Shooting Sports Foundation has already given their thumbs up saying it's a sign of a, a quote, resolve to protect the rights of law abiding citizens. And I'll tell you what, after years of watching the a TF, like a bunch of jack boots toing on our freedoms, it feels like at least a breath, breath of fresh air could be. We've finally got some folks in DC who get it. Time will tell. But I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm not necessarily looking over my shoulder right now as an FFL, but you never know that can change. So let me know. Hit me up on X. I wanna hear what you guys thought. Now let's talk about the A TF and the shakeup going on there because that's where it gets, it gets wild. I'm not sure really of what to make of all of it. Cash Patel. Yep. The guy who's been kicked, who's been kicking butt of the FBI director, you know, I think he's nailed three of the top 10 most wanted in, in, you know, the first two months. He was tapped a while back to pull, double duty his acting a TF head. I scratched my head over at the time and I'll tell you what but I was, I was pumped. You know, cash is, he's a bulldog, he's pro-gun, set it pro-free and he's not afraid to call out those deep state clowns. We've been trying to get disarm, but, gun owners of America has even had, had him out to speak, and the guy has been crystal clear. He's on our side. But here's his kicker, just a few weeks ago, a few weeks in the gig, he's been removed as acting director. No public fanfare, no big explanation. I. Poof. Gone. Replaced by who? Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll. Yeah, you heard that right? The guy running the biggest branch of our military with over 450,000 soldiers and$187 million budget is now also moonlighting Is the ATFs interim. What is the going on here? I will tell you if this has been done in the Biden administration, red flags would be flying up all over the place. The army now in charge of, of, of attacking and going after gun dealers and gun owners. Would seem a little aggressive, but I'm, I'm holding my opinions. It says the official line from the DOJ is that pat that cash was removed, had nothing to do with his job performance. White House mouthpiece Harrison Fields said it was just a short term move while awaiting Senate confirmation and that cash is excelling at the FBI. All right, fine. But then why the secrecy? Why did they take weeks for anyone to even notice that Pat Patel wasn't even showing up at the at TF? And why hand the reins to a military guy with zero law enforcement experience? It does smell off, doesn't it? So let's break it down. Cattel was bold picked for the, at TF. He's not some career bureau cat bureaucrat while playing nice with the anti-gun crowd, because that is the, a TF is a lot of politics because it, gun rights is a hot topic. He's got a spine of steel track record for sure. That's for fighting what's right under his watch. The A TF repealed the Biden Era zero tolerance policy that was strangling gun dealers over paperwork slip ups. That's a win for us. Plain and simple, but maybe that's not, that's why he's out. Maybe he's the swamp. Didn't like someone rocking the boat too hard. Don't know. Then there's Daniel Driscoll look. I am not gonna trash this guy. He's a Yale law grad, former army officer, and advise JD Vance, who's solid on the Second Amendment. The NSSF says, his appointment shows a resolve to bring reform to the A TF. I hope they're right, but here's my beef. Why does a guy with no background in federal law enforcement who's already got a monster job running the army get handed this role? Historically, the military and domestic law enforcement. They don't mix. There's a reason for that divide. And now we've got a Pentagon Big Wood, overseeing an agency that's supposed to enforce civilian gun laws. Scratch my head, but there is clater about merging the A TF with the D-D-E-E-A to cut costs. Call me crazy. But that sounds like a recipe for more bureaucracy, not less. Are we fixing a broken system or just shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. So where's that leave us. On one hand, I'm fired up about the Second Amendment task force. If Pam Bondy and the DOJ are serious about protecting our rights, I'm all in. We've been under siege from the gun control zealots for too long, and it's about time that we have some heavy handed hitters in the our corner. On the other other hand, this Patel, Driscoll switcheroo has me on the edge. I trust cash to fight for us. Driscoll's an unknown quantity, and I don't know what unknowns when it comes to my rights. Here's my take. We've gotta continue to stay diligent. We celebrate the wins like the task force and we keep our eyes peeled for funny business. The Second Amendment is just a line in the Constitution. It's our line in the sand. And whether it's cash, Daniel Driscoll, or anyone else sitting in that a TF chair, they better remember who they're working for. And that's us. So what's just, what's your gut telling you? I will tell you this, we have to, like I said, stay diligent and we have to keep fighting, fighting, fighting, and we have to watch and finally what's going on, and determine if this is just smoke and mirrors or if it's actually a, a, a change in direction. We gotta keep fighting. That's all for today on Lived To Shoot. Keep your powder dry, your aim true, and your rights locked and loaded. If you like the episode, share it.
