Well, welcome to the Live to Shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Doddle and I've been a licensed firearm dealer for the last 18 years, and this podcast we talk about. All things related Second Amendment, as well as anything else going in the world, a sports story, or anything else that I might find interesting. So welcome, welcome, welcome. You have landed on the show where we stand for Liberty, the Constitution, and the God-given right to keep and bear arms. Now today's podcast is gonna be a little different. We're gonna dive into something. To date actually today's date, June 14th. And talk just a little bit about it. A little history, I guess, about what's all happened on June 14th. And I became aware of some of the June 14th items starting about 20 years ago. And at the end of the podcast, I will tell you why. So let's get started. So first of all, it's flag, day to day. It's also the birth of the US Army, and today is President Donald j Trump's birthday. So, you know, grab some coffee. We're locked and loaded, and let's unpack a little history about today. All right, so let's kick it off by talking about Flag Flag Day. On June 14th, 1777, the second continental Congress passed a resolution adopting the stars and stripes as the official flag of these United States. That's right, our flag. The symbol of our freedom was born right in the crystal of the Revolutionary War, and that's why it's so important. The revolution called for a flag with 13 stripes, alternating red and white, and a union of 13 stars on a blue field representing a new constellation. That was the birth of old Glory, and it's been a beacon of liberty ever since. So. What's the matter to the Second Amendment? Well, the flag isn't just cloth. It's a symbol of the blood, the sweat, and the sacrifice of those who fought our freedoms, including the right to keep and bear arms. Like I said, it was born in the crucible of the Revolutionary War, and those patriots, one of the main things they were fighting for was our right to bear arms. Every time you see those stars and stripes, it's a reminder of. Everyone who has stood up to tyranny and said, you know, not on my watch from Bunker Hill to today, the flag truly represents the fight for liberty, and we're still carrying that torch, and the flag needs to be celebrated every year. Now moving on to the next big event that happened on June 14th. It was the birth of the United States Army. Also in 1777, the Continental Congress established the continental army to take on the British and secure our independence again, right in the Revolutionary War where one of the main things and the thing we've talked about before that really. Lit the fire was our protecting our rights to bear her arms. Those British were coming to confiscate a cache of arms and ammunition and that's when that first shot heard around the world was fired. And that's what one of the main things, the revolutionary War was built around with our protecting our freedom. But in seventeen seventy four, seventy seven there, it was the birth of the most formidable fighting force that we've ever seen from Valley Forge to Normandy, from Fallujah to Afghanistan, the US Army has been the backbone of our nation's defense. And let's be clear. The Army's mission ties directly to the Second Amendment. A well-regulated militia, as our founders wrote, is necessary for a free rait. The Army embodies the spirit of readiness and strength, and it's a reminder that freedom is not free. It's defended by brave men and women who stand ready to protect our way of all life. So for all the soldiers out there passing present, we salute you on this day. Thank you for your service, and it's proud to make America great. So. Now the last piece on the June 14th puzzle, the birth of President Donald to j Humm. Donald j Humm. He was born in June 14th, 1946, and the president has been a lightning rod, a patriot, and a champion. And the, and this podcast has made no qualms about our support for DJ t. We love him. And you can't deny the impact he's had. During his presentee, he has stood firm on the Second Amendment appointing judges with respect to the Constitution and pushing back against gun grabbing crowds. And I can argue, I think of all the presidents, probably every of all presidents Donald Trump has been the, the most fervent. Fighter for the Second Amendment. Here, here in his second term especially you go back and you look at all most recent re Republican presidents and some have tolerated at best the Second Amendment. But nobody has ever fought for it. And I can really argue that that was, even in Trump's first term where he had a lot of other things going on and the second Amendment was not, you know, on the top of his priority list. Here in his second term, he saw, I think what the regime of the left can try and do in terms of, of robbing us of our Second Amendment rights. And he has made a stance that it's always gonna be America first. You go back to other previous presidents. And nobody has done anything for the Second Amendment like Donald Trump. I could argue that Bush let an opportunity go. I mean, we, you know, in his first term, I mean, we were right after nine 11, we had enemy invaders on our soul soil, and we, it was a con a, the biggest reminder of why the second amendment was so important, but. There was no movement to strengthen our stance in support of the Second Amendment. His, his father Weak, we call him the Second Amendment. Even Ronald Reagan. Could, you know, it could be our, is really, you know, the assassination attempt on Reagan is really what I. Vaulted, all the Second Amendment, anti Second Amendment fervor in, into place. Before that, you know, people, you know, guns were guns. And there was not as much of a distaste and political agenda against the owning of firearms. And then his assassination attempt and his press secretary Brady gets shot and that leads to the formation of, of, of the Brady Bills and the Brady Gun Laws and the Brady Organization itself and all these other political organizations that have been fighting against our Second Amendment right. But. We do have now Donald Trump, who is, who is trying to put up that fight and his department of Justice is looking at things in a much different light. And I can just, salute him for the support he's been given to the Second Amendment. So, you know, when you look at the, today, the June 14th, it's been a big day in history. We've got our flag, our army, and what maybe the greatest president that we've ever had. But why is it so important to me? Well, 20 years ago, my little baby was born. My youngest son turns 20 today, and a little emotional. So just wish him a happy birthday, love him and y'all, take care. Have a great weekend. Happy Father's Day. To all those fathers out there, we celebrate all of us and enjoy your time and keep fighting for the Second Amendment. Thank you and take care.
