Welcome to the Lived Sheet Podcast. My name is Jeff Doddle and I've been a licensed farm dealer for the last 18 years. In this podcast, we talk about all things related to Second Amendment, as well as anything else going in the world. Sports story. Or anything in my personal life that I might find interesting. So welcome, welcome, welcome. This is the podcast where we talk about the truth, about our God-given rights to keep and bear arms, no fluff, no compromise, just straight talk, talking about defending liberty. And if you're new here, be ready to fight. And for our second Amendment right, if you're a returning listener, you know, we're, we're family, so let's just get to work. So today. We've got a massive wind unpacked and this just happened and it's got to anti-gun crowd again. Sweating bullets. The Senate Finance Committee just dropped a bombshell by including the short Act in their version of the 2025 Budget Reconciliation Bill. That's right. The Short Barrel Rifle Ownership Rights by Tax Act is a and kicking and it's a game changer for gun owners across the nation. We're gonna break it down, tell you why it matters and why the fight is far from over. So let's get going. So. Let's start with the basics. For those of you who might not be up to speed, the Short Act, the short barrelled rifle Ownership Rights by Tax Act is a piece of legislation that's been around a long time, and it's been a long time coming. It's aimed at getting gutting, one of the most ridiculous, arbitrary infringement on our Second Amendment rights. The National Firearms Act Choke hold on, short billed rifles or SPRs. Now the FA, the NFAA was passed back in 1934 and was a knee jerk reaction to gangsters like Bonnie and Clyde. It slapped heavy taxes and red tape on certain firearms, including short bell rifles and shotguns, treating'em like there was some kind of, you know, weapon of mass destruction. But here's the kicker. An SBR is just a rifle with a short, a barrel under 16 engine, or an overall length under 26 inches. That's it. It's no more dangers, no more lethal. It's just more compact. But the A TF and the anti-gun bureaucrats have weaponized the NFA to make law abiding gun owners jump through hoops, pay a 200 tax stamp and wait months. To exercise their constitutional rights. The short Act is says enough is enough. It aims to deregulate SPRs by removing them from the NFAs clutches. No more tax stamps, no more waiting periods, no more registering a rifle like it's nuclear warhead. It's about restoring common sense and treating gun owners like free Americans, not criminals. And now thanks to the Senate Finance Committee, it's been added to the reconciliation bill, which means it's got a real shot at becoming law. So it's huge. But before we, you know, celebrate, we gotta understand what's gonna happen. So how did that short acting end up in the sentence version of the bill? Well, it's been a wild ride. If you've been following my podcast, you know, we've been tracking the one big, beautiful bill since it started picking up steam in the house earlier this year. I. This massive reconciliation package is the GOP's chance to push President Trump's agenda with a simple majority in the Senate, bypassing the filibuster and the usual 60 vote gridlock back in May, and house passed their version of the one big beautiful bill. And while it included some pro gun wins like the Hearing Protection Act, shout out to Representative Andrew Clyde for holding line. It leapt out the short act. That was a gun punch. But you all rallied. You've called our, our, our reps groups like Gun Owners of American National Gun Rights have been putting the pressure on to their senators. And guess what? It worked. Just a couple days ago, the Senate Finance Company, rele Sign, Senate Finance Committee released their proposed text, and lo and behold, the short act was in there alongside the program, measures like removing suppressors from the NFA. So you've helped make it happen. Your calls, your emails, your posts on X, they're moving the ill. But here's the deal, it's not done yet. The senate's still hammering out their final version of one big, beautiful bill and the anti gun growled like everybody else. Like every town and Brady are crying foul. They're gonna pull every dirty trick to trip up the short act before the bill hits the Senate floor, plus the Bird Act. The bird rule is, or can Senate procedure could be used to kill provisions that don't directly impact the budget. Democrats are already arguing. The short Act doesn't belong in reconciliation, so we've got to stay diligent. So let's get to the heart of why the short act matters. Why should every red blood American care about deregulating short barrel rifles? First off, it's about freedom. Second Amendment doesn't have an asterisk saying, except for rifles and barrels under 16 inches. Our right to keep and bear arms is absolute, and the NFAs restrictions are a blatant violation of that principle. Second, it's about fairness. The NFA tax stamp is a poll tax on gun ownership. 200 bucks might not sound like much to some DC elitist, but for working class family, that's groceries for a month and the wait time, unacceptable, we shouldn't have to beg the government for permission to protect your home and your property. Third, it's about fighting back against the ATFs overreach under Joe Biden, the A TF tried to reclassify pistols, braces as SPRs, turning millions of law abiding gunner into felons overnight. The short act is a direct shot across that vow saying You don't get to rewrite the rules to screw over Americans. It's a step forward. Dismantling the bureau bureaucratic tyranny that we've been fighting against. And last, not forget. On the practical side, FPRs are our deal for home defense, maneuverable, lightweight and effective. They're also grateful. Folks with disabilities or smaller frames who find full size rifles tough to handle. Deregulating SPR means more Americans can access the tools they need to stay safe without jumping through hoops. So what's next? Well, the Senate's gotta pass their version of the one beautiful bill by July 4th. And according to and that's a tight timeline and there's a lot of horse trading going on. So if the Senate bill passes. With the short act intact, you'll have to go back to the house for final approval. Since the house and final versions will will differ and that, then there's another chance. You know, I. We already had the, the one big beautiful bill go through the house. They weren't able to get the short act put in. They pulled it out. They kept the hearing protection act in there for silencers or suppressors, but they could not get it done. So, big concern on whether or not. Once the, the one big beautiful bill goes back to the house, those are gonna have the, the guts and where for all to, to pass it. And I've already heard from people in the house saying, you know, not basically because of the short act or the hearing protection act, that the Senate version's gonna be dead on arrival because they don't like some of the changes that the Senate has made outside of the protecting our Second Amendment. So. We've gotta keep fighting. You gotta keep fighting. Contact your senators, contact your representatives and tell'em that they've got to pass the one big beautiful bill. That's number one priority. We've gotta get President Trump's agenda across the line. And that includes the one big beautiful bill increasing spending to protect our borders. No tax on tips, no tax on overtime, all those things that were campaign promises plus. It's making a big, bold statement about our Second Amendment rights. So we've gotta get this thing passed. We've gotta get through the Senate, then we've gotta get back through the house. So contact your senators, contact your house of representative. I will keep you informed as things move along. Stay tuned for this podcast. Look for updates, and I appreciate you listening. Have a great rest of your day and a rest of your week. Thank you.
