Welcome to the Live Shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Doddle and I've been a licensed farm dealer for the last 18 years. And this podcast talk about all things related to Second Amendment, as well as anything else go in the World sports story or anything else I might find interesting. So. Welcome, welcome, welcome to the, you know, the podcast where we break down the latest in the, in the firearms industry. Second Amendment very, from a very pro freedom perspective. We live, we love our liberty and we love our country here. So this week we are gonna be talking about some industry news. First we're gonna talk about Ruger, and then we're gonna talk about Sig. So let's get this thing kicked off and let's talk about the latest in the area where, big acquisition where everyone that everyone's talking about stern, Ruger, and Company just bought Anderson Manufacturing. That's right. The folks behind the the poverty pony ar fifteens are now part of the Ruger Empire deal. Went down July 1st, 2025. And it's, it's a game changer for Ruger production capacity, for sure. Anderson's facility in Hebron, Kentucky, along with its machinery and skilled workforce, are now gonna be a part of Ruger. But according to rug's press press release, they're not keeping the Anderson brand of, or its budget friendly ar lineup, which I find disappointing. I as a FFL dealer have transferred in. Hundreds of Anderson lowers and rifles. They're very affordable. And as far as I have feedback, I've gotten they're, they're, they are pretty good quality for, for what you get. But instead, you know, Ruger is gonna be fold that all that Anderson, capabilities into their operations, and they're gonna to use it to crank out new rugal products, expand their existing lines and their accessories. So, you know, why does it matter? Well. You know, Rutger's already a heavyweight in the firearms. They were only second to savage arms in rifle production in 2023 with over 610,000. So this move is gonna push them probably to the top, especially in the AR 15 market. You know, Anderson's been a go-to, affordable, reliable ar for decades and, you know, Ruger ISS gonna start leveraging their capabilities to help dominate the market. Ruger, CEO, Todd Seaford put it said, this is an incredible opportunity to advance our long-term strategy translation. Ruger ISS loading up to make more guns faster and better. But if you have an Anderson product, their warranty service is done. Unfortunately, if you've got an Anderson lower or rifle, you are gonna be on your own. And that's a bummer, I think. And, but Rugers, you know, they've got a solid reputation for quality and they're not about to let the tion go to waste. They're integrating the Anderson team and factory into their operations across New Hampshire, Arizona, North Carolina, and Missouri. It's a strategic play in the firearms friendly state like Kentucky, and, you know, it's kind of a middle finger to anti gun crowd as we keep growing our businesses. So curious to know what, what y'all think. Is this good for the Second Amendment? Is it good for the, the industry you know, rug's not resting on revolvers in 10 20 twos anymore, so, see what's happening. So let me know what you think. And we'll watch how this hap folds for Ruger. So, but now let's shift to some not so great news. And that's for six hour the P three 20 specifically the M 18 variant used by the military and law enforcement is back in the hot seat. And this time it's the F-B-I-F-B-I turning up the heat. There's a report from the FBI's ballistic research facility released through a freedom of information request dropped to bombshell that the P three 20 can fire without trigger pull under certain conditions. Yeah. And. Quote, unquote, un commanded discharge stems from a July, 2024 incident where a Michigan State Police Officer M 18 allegedly went off while hosted with no trigger contact. The officer was just standing there holding gun his keys and bam. Round fired. The FBI's 32 page report dated August 30th, 2024. Didn't Sure, sure. Code it. They tested the M 18 and found that in scenarios mimic kinking, real world movements like pressing the gun against the wall, jumping or running. The P three 20 could discharge without anyone touching the trigger. They pointed to issues with the striker safety spring shifting under specific conditions, though they couldn't fully replicate the problem in every test. They said Sig was invited to the testing but declined to show show and, you know, it's not a great look for Sig, I think, and, you know, doesn't get any better. On July 9th, 2025, the Immigration and Custom Enforcement Agency ICE issued a memo banning their agents from carrying any P three 20 models and they're swapping'em out for the good old Glock 19. It's a huge blow for Sig reputation, especially since the P three 20 was chosen for the Army's$580 million modular handgun system contract. The department of home and security isn't messing around and neither are the online gun communities. People are calling'em out and saying that, you know, SIGs denial. Is denying their, their flaws. So let's be clear too, you know, SIG makes good guns. You know, the P 365 is a fan favorite, and I know a lot of people that have the three twenties. And, but it's not new for SIG either. Back in 2017, SIG issued a voluntary upgrade, quote unquote, for early P three 20, tweaking the trigger shoe striker safety, and SEER to address similar concerns. Here we are eight years later with the FBA saying, there's still a problem. SIG response, they doubled down claiming there's quote unquote no evidence. The P three 20 can fire without a trigger pull. Sorry, sig, but the FAI reports it. Isis ban says otherwise. So, you know. My take, you know, if you've got a three 20 you need to be aware of this. You know, you gotta be careful. Check your holster, train smart, and maybe consider a backup until sig figures this out. I'm not saying ditch your sig. They've got great guns. And I know a lot of people at'em, but sig, instead of playing, defense and, and accusing critics of being anti-gun. You know, how about honing up and fixing it? You know, just fix your problem and a recall might hurt your pride, but it will save your reputation. So. Folks, that's it. That's a rundown on, on rug's acquisition in the P three 20 woes. We'll keep you updated as things evolve, and hey, if you haven't you know, subscribed to this show, do it. Share it with others get it out there. If you wanna support the show, go to Ammos Square.
