Well, welcome to the Live to Shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Dole, and I've been a licensed firearms dealer for the last 18 years. In this podcast, we talk about all things related to Second Amendment as well as well anything else go in the world sports story or anything else that I might find interesting. So welcome, welcome, welcome. So if you listen to last week's podcast, you know, I, I talked about the, the tragic shooting at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. And you know, I, I. Typically don't like talking about these, but gonna be two weeks in a row because you know, the left just can't leave it alone. And as always, they're they're trying to exploit this to push their anti, gun agenda. Same thing. More gun control, more restrictions, more attacks on our second amendment. And I'm gonna break it all down and you know, just give you all the information that's out there. So let's, if you didn't listen, here's the facts. On August 27th a shooter won't give. His name opened Fire through the glass, the windows of the Annunciation Catholic School, and they killed two kids and they're injuring 17 others, mostly children. The shooter has a history of mental illness and an obsession with mass shooters. He used legally purchased firearms, a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol. And then he took, took his own life. And we're still praying for those families. I believe there is one girl that is still one child at least that's still in some critical condition. At last I heard. So we keep praying for those people, but, let's talk about Tim Walls. And the first thing you know, we have to keep saying is that we have to be so thankful for Donald, Donald Trump and JD Vance and the fact that Tim Walls is not our current vice president, but he's been in that, you know, he is the governor of Minnesota and he's been out front and center and he's not shy about using this tragedy to score political points. Just days after this is his quote. He said, the sad reality of what of of it is that what happened last week is preventable'cause so many nations around the world do it. And he's talking about calling a special legislation, put a session to push for tougher gun laws, including get this, an assault, weapons ban, safe storage laws, and tweaks to Minnesota's red flag laws. He even said, if Minnesota lets this moment slide and we determined that it's okay for little ones not to be safe in a school environment or a church environment, then shame on us. Shame on us, really. Governor, how about the shame on the system that failed to address the shooter's mental illness issues in the warning side that we're screaming? And if you don't remember, also, this was a, a. Trans individual. It was a male preferred to be a female. And you know, that is a mental illness. But you know, walls wasn't alone. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry. He's quick to jump on the bandwagon, calling for a ban on assault weapons. High capacity magazines. And he says, every one of us needs to be wrapping arms around these families, giving them every ounce that we can muster. Sounds heartfelt, right? But in the same breath, he's pushing for laws that would strip law abiding citizens of their constitutional protections. And don't forget that the twin city mayors who held press conference demanding changes to a 1985 state law so they can enact their own local gun restrictions. It's the same playbook every time. They just, they're out there shouting for more. Gun control. But you know, here's, here's the thing. The left wants you to believe that piling on more laws is the answer, but Minnesota already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. They passed enhanced background checks and red flag laws in 2023. And guess what? Didn't stop this shooter?'cause the laws don't stop people who are already breaking them. This shooter legally purchased their farms despite a document history of disturbing behavior, including a Journal of Fantasies about mass shootings in the YouTube manifesto that was taken down by the FBI. If the citizen had focused on addressing their mental health issues and behavior issues, maybe we wouldn't even be there. And I know currently president Trump and JD Vance have expressed interest in the pursuing preventing trans individuals from being able to purchase farms. I believe they need to. What they need to do is, is make sure that we, we it's put in a statute that trans is a mental illness, and then go from there to have it already fall within our current preventions of mental illness. But you know, the less their, their strategy is just let's just let's take this opportunity to disarm the, the good guys. But you know. Let's talk about these proposed laws, assault weapon, man, man limits or safe storage. They didn't stop the shooter. The answer is no. Westman fired over a hundred rounds, used multiple firearms and planned the attack meticulously. This one is spur in a moment. It wasn't calculated. It was a calculated act of evil. And here's something else. You know, the Municipal Gun Owner's Caucus, you know. God bless him. Came out swinging against Fry's, assault weapons ban, calling it unconstitutional, ineffective, and he said, such proposals are unconstitutional and do nothing to reduce crimes now. Amen. Amen to that. The Second Amendment isn't a suggestion, it's a right as we always say, and the study after study says it's so-called assault. Weapons ban are used in a tiny fraction that assault weapons are used in only a tiny fraction of crimes. Most gun Gunn includes handguns, not rifles, and the left seem to. Love scare people with buzzwords like assault weapons. They're not, their, their facts are after your f freedom. So but you know, again, it a mental illness. This person was trans, they have a mental illness, should not have been you know, and had exhibited many, episodes of mental illness and we talked about last week, you know, the la most recent, since we started gl, GL glorifying the trans agenda the number of mass shootings by trans individuals has gone up and it just seems to be going up because they have been glorified and they believe that it's their place. You know, but what, what do we need to do? Well, you know, we need to do what works. School resource officers trained and armed can stop threats before they escalate. Hardening the schools you know, better locks, Bulletproof glass, panic buttons. Yes. And armed teachers, they, they, they, I believe, need to be protecting our kids. We protect our, our money much more than we protect our kids. And you know, the left hates that idea. They hate an armed teacher or parent. Even though that they could have ended this threat faster than any police response president Trump has even flowed the idea of arming teachers. And so let's take a serious look at that. You know, let's put some federal funding into training our teachers, hardening our schools and, and protecting our kids. You know, we knew this was coming. We knew this would be the left's response. It always is. And thankful that Tim Walls is not our, our current vice president. But you know, we need to hold the left accountable for, for what they have done in this, and that is. Glorifying and lifting up this trans agenda, as well as trying to take away our gun rights and limit the amount of armed citizens that can be out there protecting us. I'm curious to know what y'all say. You know. Text me, comment me, email me. All that stuff's in the show notes. Lemme know what you think. Am I crazy? Is it crazy to armed teachers? Do you think that's nuts? I think it's, I think it would be great. You know, schools are you know, no no gun are gun free zones. Why, why is that? Why is that? Right? Let's protect our kids as much as we protect everything else. And governor Walls, why don't you give up your security protection and donate that to kids as well. So appreciate y'all listening. Y'all have a great weekend and I will talk to you later.
