Live to Shoot - Defending our 2nd Amendment Rights

2nd Amendment News Week of September 21, 2025

Jeff Dowdle Episode 271

Well, welcome to the Live to Shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Doddle and I've been a licensed firearm dealer for the last 18 years. And this podcast we talk about all things related to Second Amendment, as well as anything else going in the World sports story or anything else that I might find interesting. So welcome, welcome, welcome. I am coming from the free state of Texas, and we are where the wind smells like freedom and gun oil. So welcome, welcome, welcome. As I said. You know, we talk about the Second Amendment here as well as any sports stories. And so I thought I could just lead off with what my sports weekend looks like. Right now I am sitting here watching the Ryder Cup. The morning did not start off well. For the US we are down three to one. But Scotty and JJ Spa just won the first hole of their four ball tournament and. DJT President Trump is now on the tee box with the group of Bryson and Ben Griffin. So it's exciting stuff. So I'll be watching the Ryder Cup all weekend. Hopefully we will get in US win this evening. My Indiana Fever. Yes, I watched the WNBA are in the playoffs and they're going to try and take a two, one lead over the ACEs. Then my horn frogs. Are playing a SU tonight. And then Sunday night is the packers and cowboys. So it's a busy sports weekend for me. And another thing I want to just shout out my son, and if you are a college football fan you need to check out his. Po his podcast as well as his substack, he is covering college football in depth all week. The content is enormous, including his own depo where he's got his own rankings out there. It's really good and I will put the links to all that in the show notes. So check it out following, give him a, like, you know, help, help him you know, grow his, his, his footprint a little bit. But, so it is the 24th of September. And it has been a week. So let's hit the legal battlefield first. Where the good guys are, are drawn some blood. A big win is brewing out in California. Yeah, California. Of all places. On the 22nd, the California Rifle and Pistol Association. And the Second Amendment Foundation teamed up with a with five fed up south Bay residents to sue Santa Clara County Sheriff Robert Johnson over his onerous concealed carry permit rules. We're talking$976 application fees,$400 for mandatory training, a$500 psych eval that feels like a loyalty test and gets his, gets this demanding you cough it up, your political donation history, renewal another 850 every two years, that's nearly two grand just to exercise your God-given, right. These clowns in Santa Clara are charging more than Alameda, San Mateo, even LA County, and slapping on psychic exams nobody else requires. It's a blatant brewing val violation. Remember that 2020 Supreme Court SmackDown that. Killed good cause BS for CCW. The plaintiffs are calling it financial warfare on the Second Amendment, plus the First Amendment gut punch with those donation disclosures. Sheriff's Office says they're confident in their setup, but we'll see how that holds up in federal court. This is why we need groups like CRPA and FAF in the trenches suing these T tyrants and. Speaking courts. The second circuit just kept New York sensitive places gun ban in place, including no carry in Times Square and the subway. Yeah, because nothing else says safe, like disarming folks where the real threats slur, it's temporary hold, but it stings more on that if, if it escalates to, to scotus. Over in Ohio, the state Supreme Court heard arguments since on September 22nd about restoring gun rights to folks with old domestic violent, convictions could be a game changer for redemption and second amendment restoration. So stay tuned. Now let's talk about real second Amendment action in action. A story that reminds us of why we train, why we carry, and why the grabbers are dead wrong. Outta the archives, but timeless. Remember Kyle Rittenhouse, the kid's case got dragged back into the spotlight this week with folks reminding the one, reminding the world it was pure self-defense. Legal possession of the rifle, charged, dropped, protecting a business during riots chased down and forced to fire only after being attacked. Video witnesses, all of that, backed him up and get this. Same day he walked free, A black man got acquitted for the exact same, using a gun to defend his life. It's not ancient history. It's the blueprint in a world where threats don't wait for permanent or poles that AR 15 saved lives. No good guy with a gun fairytale. This was raw, necessary defense. If you're not training for the moment, what are you waiting for? Hit the range this weekend. Whew. That's a week. Let's sharpen our aim and reminders. We'll keep you locked and loaded. If you haven't followed this podcast. Please do so, li do so like it share it with others. Do all those things. And again, I said, you know, follow my son's podcast as well. I'll put those information in the links. So go USA as we try and fend off Europe and go horn frogs fever and cowboys. Thanks a lot and have a great weekend.
