Well, welcome to the Live to Shoot podcast. My name is Jeff Dowell. I've been a licensed firearm dealer for the last 18 years in this podcast to talk about. All things related to Second Amendment, as well as anything else going in the world, a sports story or anything else that I might find interesting. So welcome, welcome, welcome. Just wanted to get on and give a quick update on my thoughts on the Texas primary results that we had here. You know, I have been calling for the Ouster of John Cornyn for years. And my podcast last week was urging all my Texas followers to get out and, and vote for Ken Paxton to in the primary to unseat John Cornyn. This is our best chance that we've had. And just wanna give you my thoughts on that. There's a lot of people out there that. Weighed in. Some of it's still unknown and I would say it was a mixed bag overall. In terms of the results, we'll come to the John Cornyn Senate race here in a minute. But I do want to and I did not mention this at the time, but another person that was on my list and has been on my list for quite a while was Dan Crenshaw. He was really a, you know, a feckless, congressman didn't do anything. It was more about doing videos and, you know, he did, he did not always support Donald Trump. And he just kind of tried to leverage his history as a Navy SEAL and the injury that he sustained. And, you know, we all support him and, and appreciate that, that, but as a congressman, he was a failure. He followed in Nancy Pelosi's footsteps and he made a ton of money. From his inside information on the, in the stock market, on on different trades and everything. But, that was a big win. He got beat and he got beat handily by Steve Toth, who came in and took 57% to Crenshaw, 39% of the vote. So that one is done. Toth will go and now represent the Republicans in that con congressional race coming up. And that's a, primarily a Republican district. He should be okay there and, and winning that seat back. But that was a big victory for. For the, for the MAGA movement and, and for the Second Amendment movement as well as for Texas. And it's unusual for the seat seated congressman or senator. That is what the, you know, we're up against with John Corn too, is once you get in it is tough for you to be primaried and I think this was the first time, and I don't know, some odd status 60 years that that's happened now. The so good, good, good, good, good news. But when we go to the corn in Paxton it's mixed. There's gonna be a runoff. Neither one got 50% corny, got 42%. Paxton got 41%. I was hoping Paxton would first get over the 50% mark, but he didn't. And then I was hoping that he would at least have a substantial, a sizable enough victory that it would indicate that, you know, KO needed to step outta the race. But, you know, the third party candidate in there, Wesley Hunt, took 13% of the vote. You know, that's pretty good. And, and that really split things up. So we're having a runoff and you know. Don't know where it's gonna go. The establishment is pushing for corny. They are, they threw so much money at him and they are pushing him. They, you know, they just want the good old boys in there. You know, there's concern that Paxton has some baggage and that he's not electable well, he, they've been saying that about him forever and he keeps winning. And we just need to look at our president, who's had a little baggage in his past and he keeps overcoming it in, in big ways. And so president Trump has come out and said that he's gonna endorse one or the other, and he expects the other one to, to step down. I'm nervous, I'm afraid he's gonna endorse Corning. And if he does, Paxton has said that he didn't step, he ain't gonna step down, and I'm really ready for a bloody fight.'cause I think the, the Wesley Hunt faction will come out. I think the Paxton Paxton, you know, the turnout would be low. And I think they're looking for a change. And I think Paxton could actually beat him in a runoff. Now they're concerned because the, the Democrat candidate that they elected, you know, we were hoping that it would be Crockett, but you know, she's is nutty is nut, but it, it isn't, and and I, the. Republican, he, you know, he is a, as nutty as, as they are. He is a quote unquote pastor, but he completely takes the Bible outta context and he's come up that there's six different genders and that God is non-binary. And, and so he is as woke as any of them. So I don't think he'd be that difficult to, to beat. Ken Paxton has supported President Trump all the way through. He's never wavered. And so I don't know where that's gonna go. We will see, I can be honest to tell you if, if Cornyn's on the ballot, I would not vote for the Democrat, but I may leave that vote blank. I am just done with John Cornyn. He's failed us. He's betrayed us. And, you know, that's, that's all I have to say about John Corn and I hope President Trump's got a lot on his plate. Just let go of Christy Nome. We've got the Iran conflict going on right now, and so we will see where this lands. But I'd, I have to hope he just let the voters say, let's have a bloody fight on our hands here in Texas. And I know we don't wanna lose Texas. The house and the Senate seats are, are important, and he's afraid of losing control of the Senate. There's a lot of political movement going on. I understand all that, don't like any of it because it doesn't seem like anything gets done one way or the other. And so but I know John Corn has failed us. That that is an, undisputed fact. So that's where we are. We will see where President Trump lands on his endorsement and we will go from there and we will keep praying for our troops and all of our leaders out there as they make these difficult decisions. I appreciate you listening and I will talk to you later.
